At first listen, Oh Condor sounds like a lot of useless noise. And you’re bound to let them fade away because of it. But cool it! Give them a second chance.
Oh Condor isn’t new to music. Having undergone a recent name change, though, there’s that element of newness that’s still afoot. A quick listen to some of their older stuff - such as their album “You’ve Been Believed,” which you can hear on their Bandcamp - will show you that they’ve developed a style of their very own.
They call themselves a line-blurring four-piece that attempts to combine emo, shoegaze, and noise elements into a genre all its own.
So you might’ve been right your first listen - there sure is a lot of noise. But lying beneath all of it is something worth the listen.
You can catch Oh Condor’s new EP “Reflector” out on Tinderbox Music now. Released April 3rd, it features their single Head First and gives a great feel for what they’re like.

THEESatisfaction’s album awE naturalE just came to Cavalier Radio, and it is a sweet sound to break the montony of traditional hip-hop. The duo provides my much saught after healthy combination of some of my favorite things: Jazz, hip-hop, and experimental.
Track #10 Enchantruss loops vocals underneath verses and makes for one wild sound, they find their groove and nail it. These women are pretty bold. Their lyrics and energy are striking and the techniqe is impeccable.
The song “Bitch” is saucy, staccato, and catching: “I am the bitch on the side.“
Unfortunately, they are in Europe at the moment but I have my fingers crossed for a U.S. summer tour.

Owen is a solo project of Mike Kinsella, a Chicago native singer songwriter known for his powerfully driven lyrics. Kinsella’s sixth full-length studio release Ghost Town is a deeply personal and absolutely memorizing. With its soft melodies, complex acoustics, and mournful vocals Ghost Town delivers one of the best and most experimental Owen CD’s to dates. Be sure to check out the track “I Believe”, it is one of the most heart tugging tracks on the album. Also if you happen to be in the Missouri area in April check Owen out at the Riot Room as a part of the Middle of the Map Fest on April 6th.

Anyone ever heard of Hargo? They’re a Los Angeles-based band worth listening to. Trust me.
The band’s lead vocalist, born Hargobind Hari Singh Khalsa, is the inspiration behind the band’s name. He just simply needed a nickname. (How couldn’t he?)
Making up the rest of the band are guitarist Sanjay Parekh and bassist John Jolley, both of whom share Hargo’s passion for music. According to Hargo himself, their inspiration is pulled from such iconic musicians throughout history as Thom Yorke of Radiohead, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails - all the way down to the more unexpected, like Tupac and Marilyn Manson.
The band has officially released their debut full-length album “Out of Mankind” as of Tuesday, Feb. 28. Go out and get a copy!

For me, “Out of Mankind” is an essential listen. At times it’s irrevocably pop-y, with catchy hooks and moving melodies. But at others, it’s more than that: there is subtle inspiration pulled from acts like Radiohead, with occasionally unexpected and avant-garde elements mixed in with the more orthodox pop/rock aesthetic.
Overall, the album is very impressive. As of now there’s only been one single released off of “Out of Mankind,” that being the track “Soul Survivor.” Check out the music video - it’s worth the look!
Other recommended tracks are “Tekni-Colouring” and “Regeneration X.”
You can also follow Hargo on Twitter, pester their fan site for fun info and a list of their upcoming appearances (they’ll be in NYC in early April!), etc. Make sure to give them a look!
